Making Custom Jewelry Since 1994
Thomas grew up on his parents’ farm in Bridgeton, NJ where he tended to the farm along side his 5 siblings. During his time at Sacred Heart High School in Vineland, NJ, his passion was tennis. At this point he moved in with his grandparents to take care of them and began working towards his collegiate goals.
After graduating high school, he attended Salem Community College on a tennis scholarship to study accounting. He continued his education while at Rowan University, studying chemistry, which lead him to working in the pharmaceutical industry. After a while he found himself wanting a change of pace to express himself artistically.
At a family wedding Thomas met Mechelle, they have been happily married since 1992.
Mechelle supported his decision to leave the pharmaceutical industry and pursue his goal in crafting jewelry. He sought out the best jewelers in Philadelphia, PA he could find, and started an apprenticeship on Samson Street, also known as Jewelers’ Row. He trained for five years, building toward his goal of opening his own shop. His background in chemistry transferred to the science of metallurgy. Which gave him insight into the working with the metals he uses today.
In 1994, Thomas opened his first shop in Pittman, NJ; during this time their first two children were born. After their second child, Thomas and Mechelle began finalizing plans to relocate. In 2000, Thomas and his family moved and settled in Gallatin, TN.
He started at a local jewelry store doing repairs and creating custom jewelry on the side. After a few years, Thomas started his own custom jewelry and repair store. During this time, Thomas and Mechelle’s third child was born. Soon after, they moved to the front of the plaza.
Today, Thomas Jewelers of Gallatin, TN is still at the front of the plaza; creates custom pieces of the highest quality.
